Locronan, heritage city of 800 inhabitants
Located in the heart of the Porzay region on the shores on the Douarnenez bay, Locronan takes its name after Saint Ronan, an Irish saint who emigrated to Brittany around 600 A.D.
Its unique architecture is a witness of a prosperous past : the industry of hemp weaving was exporting sails around europe in the 16th century. After centuries of decline the architecture was left untouched and the village is now a touristic attraction for 400 000 visitors every year.
